LAUNCH COLLECTION PREPARATION
This course requires intermediate to advance level sewing experience, samples of what you have sewn is to be brought along before starting the course. You will be expected to put together the patterns you draft, into testing your patterns then to make sample garments. After doing the samples you can hand over to a seamstress to make items for final fashion show to show case your collection on the launch day.
Intense course for serious committed students. No matric required, as this course is preparing you to start your own business.
Advance sewing skills level would be beneficial to you.

6 Month contract, monthly fees of R3500. Registration fee is part of covering the first essential step of the course layout.

This course includes the following steps:
Fashion illustration & sketching
Fashion trends & fashion vision boards & mood boards
Design your collection – maximum of 10 design styles only
Sketching out your planned collection layout, fabric purchasing for samples
Fabric sampling, fabric suppliers and which fabrics to select for your collection to launch at your fashion show.
Fabric selection for your range
Pattern blocks – pattern perfection making up samples
Drafting basic 5 block patterns
Pattern adaptation, 1/4 scale pattern dart manipulation, pivoting & slashing techniques, pattern making concepts
Garment construction with sewing techniques, making up block patterns in calico to perfect fit and patterns
Clothing Collection Preparation ( you can sew your own collection or source out to seamstresses to assist you)
Planning, production, pricing & promotion
Tech pack; fashion illustration; fashion collection planning: Your collection layout & roll out action plan
Pricing & rating per garment, purchasing of fabrics
Pricing per garment
Promotion ideas to start building your audience awareness – potential clients

Fashion magazines: any type of fashion magazines with women or mens fashion trends that you can use for vision & mood boards. (Glamour, Fair Lady, Cosmopolitan, Vogue, etc)
Sewing machine & over locker machine
Fabric scissors & paper scissors
sharp pins, seam ripper/unpicker, sewing needles, machine needles, threads to match your fabrics, fabric pen marker, carbon paper,
tracing wheel, tape measure,
20meters of muslin/calico or curtain lining to make sample10 Metres of iron on vilene interfacing
Fabrics to make up test samples & fabrics for collection for your fashion show
